View Full Version : Queensday Holland
Hey guys,
I was wondering how many people actually know of this festifal outside the netherlands. I was talking to DSL about it last night ;)
For the newbies a small introduction (from wikipedia):
Koninginnedag or Queen's Day is a national holiday in the Netherlands, the Netherlands Antilles, and Aruba on 30 April.
Queen's Day is known for its "freemarket" (Dutch: vrijmarkt) all over the country, where everybody is allowed to sell things in the streets. Other activities during Queen's Day are children's games, individual musical performances, and music concerts. The night before Queen's Day is celebrated too in some cities, and this is called Queen's Night (Dutch: Koninginnenacht)
Anyway, the biggest party is in Amsterdam. Arround 600k-800k people are planning to go there and have a blast PT:::
Amsterdam is known for it's canals, well on queensday every canal looks like this:

Meanwhile every square is filled with people, lots of people (100k people here):

that ****ing ******* destroyed the complete day.
The news is saying that he might have died, but this sick bastard doesn't deserve an end like this.
The thing is that there is no way to prepare for a maniac like this. This guy had no record, no ties to terorrists... completly nothing and still the ****er killed 4 people.
I just saw the speach that our queen gave and I was really touched by the emotion that was shown and the word that were used. Normally they show sympathy with the injured and victimes so that can have some distance. But now you really saw how shocked she was.
Now i just hope, that next year we'll do everything twice as big in the memory of victimes and i actually hope that the ****er is still alive to see that we won't back down!
*edit*
Make that 5 death, another person just died in the hospital.

Surely there's some sort of way this could be said to be treason, which I'm guessing has the largest punishment.
What a ******bag
omg!!! my boyfriend and I are both dutch and we never knew about this!
I think next year we are going to take a vacation =D
i find it riddiculous that the royal family aborted all celebrations... thats not the right spirit
What have we, as a species, come to? There is so much insanity such as this, where the hell is it coming from? People have changed, there is no respect for life as it used to be.

I don't believe that. I believe we have more effective ways to kill people plus there's more people to be killed or be screwed up enough to kill.
Also the speed at which news can be sent round the world now is scary, 20 years ago would you have even known this happened?
Yeah :),
Queensday is coming again. Hopefully it will be better then last year. So if all the idiotic suicidal ****ers could shoot themselves in their head long before the 30th. It would be appreciated.
