View Full Version : Veteran Missions

The original missions were created for new members to help them learn there way around the game and basic functions. Last set i opened up them up to everyone so they could be really tested well. Other then a few little bugs, the system works very well and is liked by all of you. Liked so well that this set when they were set for new members (3 month or less) only, many of the veteran members complained about not being able to use them.

We can't really let you use them cause many of you can make a state and already have half the rewards. So it's like just giving you free things for nothing. So to answer all of your requests about being able to use them, the answer is no i just can't do it.. BUT, seeing they are so popular and they do add a little spice to the game, how about we make Missions for veteran members? These Missions would be much harder to achieve and you wouln't receive them just by creating a state lol.. There are a few things to keep in mind. First, the rewards! We can't make the rewards be so rewarding that is creates a huge imbalance between all the states. Some members are better then others and we can't make it so unfair for the not as good players (like me :) )

Also, the missions need to be hard. Perhaps 1 or 2 easier ones, but the rest need to really be meant to improve how many veteran players play. These missions could actually help teach veteran players how to play better.

So what i would like to do is get as many inputs and ideas on missions as we can. I will go through and select the best 10 or so and begin working on a script to make this happen. I doubt it would be ready by next set, but ya never know,, Prolly the set after due to creating and then massive testing that would need to be done. We need lots of ideas cause i can make some of them random so they change each set so we don't have to keep doing the same ones over and over.. But this all depends on how many ideas we have.

So please, let's hear some ideas on some new missions for veteran members.

I think some milestone missions could work well here such as rewards for:

No red turns all set long (reward on the last day)
Reach 100m networth
Play a set without using the black market
100% success rate with SA
Upgrade 4 or more units to level 8 within 7 days

War:
Conduct over 100 destructive spy ops successfully
Kill a state (small reward here, maybe a medal?)
Successfully hold sanctions for longer than 5 days (add a small amount of army/money to the NA coffers)
Receive X amount of war attacks, win or lose, and survive (stonewaller)
Conduct X amount of war attacks successfully (good for people who attack after a break but never get kills)

Of course, these are just ideas, and would need to be tweaked.

Perhaps to encourage better teamwork, it would be good to also have rewards for collective nations? These would need to be balanced though, or bigger nations would always get them and smaller nations would have a much harder time. Maybe scaling nation rewards would work better (bigger nations get a lower payout than small nations?)

Get 50 billion in the bank.
Get 25,000 land.
Get 525 points.
Get 1,000,000,000 Infantry.

These missions would only benefit the top few states, as they are the only ones who can get that many infantry/land/NW/etc. So basically they can get even farther ahead of the states they are competing against.

I like these missions, however the only reward that should be given is a forum medal or some other equivilient.

You wouldn't want something too excessive, but also something that's hard to attain. The bar for the missions for vets should be set high, at least the top tier of rewards. The point of missions is to give the good/elite players something to aim for.

I don't see a problem with rewarding the best of the best each set since the scores already show who the particular elite are for the set by the end of round- giving them an added push to help them break a personal record or put someone that last 5m or so over to help a nation go up higher is fine, as long as its nothing ridiculous- food or some cash would be a good reward as opposed to land/turns/troops.

A medal chest would be nice, with a medal chest for each individual player showing how many sets that various missions were accomplished. Rather than going by score and points (which no one pays much attention to), players could aim for specialist medals (air/ground/sea/spy) among other things.

get all unit types to lvl8 with a min of 5mill of each unit type and reward could be a free upgrade of any unit to lvl12?

i dislike the awards idea as it dictates the strategies players should play for bonus's.

stocking is a legitimate strat. what if i take 300 grabs and avoid 1k land grabs at the start of the set because i want to keep my production at a high %'s of land.

medals would be cool, awards would not.

you know what...i think there are other things to work on Mr. P. I mean really do vets need missions? we have medals...? Just do another medal or something so I will never make HOF.

Speaking of HOF, man I am never going to win a set, and winning a set doenst mean your the greatest of all time. That medal should be extended outside of first place. maybe top 3 or top 5.

exactly what i had in my mind!
why not to give out points for getting different kind of missions instead of giving land/cash? when i first posted this idea to mr p then i never thought those awards would be cash/land/turns cos i had in my mind those newbs could compete with eachother. so first few sets if they are not talented they cant probably get to top10, but competing with eachother they could be the best newbies!!!

also i thought it would be cool to have lots of weird missions, something u have to work on all set. something that would probably ruin your set just to get this mission done. would give people like myself some purpose to play. but getting just different kind of medals? mm not exactly what i had in my mind..but maybe give the medal name + how much its worth..

i have few such "weird" and "hard to be done" missions in my mind, but lots of you dont probably like them and it seems to be trend to ignore all my ideas anyway..

maybe a points system is good...and maybe you can make it so you can buy certain things on the forum? maybe have it linked to credits and we can whipe out the credits slate clean, aside from what people purchased with there own money.

I really Like this Idea.

Of Course as other have said, it should not be a huge reward, and also we need to make the missions so that they will not only benefit top 10ers.

make a SA and gain 500 land = reward.

make Xamount(100-200?) of SA's in the set = reward

Use refuel 20 times and get reward.

I dunno.

But as long as we kept the rewards at a standard amount, like 500 land, or 10 turns, or 100M$, and the rewards were the same for all states, not proportionate to the state NW or land, then it would be fair.

getting 100M$ for making a 500+SA would acctually benefit a smaller state more than a larger one.

If the reward remains the same, and states claim it big and small, then it could lessen the gap.

for Maggio:

Attack a state in less then 10 seconds after its GB expires.

= reward

in maggios case he might finally learn how to netgain.

theres a sticky thread by me on the art of landgrabbing somewhere around here.

get all unit types to lvl8 with a min of 5mill of each unit type and reward could be a free upgrade of any unit to lvl12?

why would we be rewarding stupidity? have you played in ICN for a long time by any chance? they seem to like to upgrade everything to lvl8 and run mixed strats too.

i dislike the awards idea as it dictates the strategies players should play for bonus's.

you prefer 1k grabs at start of set over 300 land ones ?
