I respect their opinions. If they would contribute something like, "I think Mike Hunt is being extremely racist", or "it is wrong to censor someone based on race" then expand with a story, I'd respect that. Everyone seems to have such a problem with me calling them out on their racism, so I made a very serious poll about it. I didn't add a bunch of wierd comments about Ranger or Hoebawt.

Harming someone else (beating the heck out of them) just cause of the color of there skin is what i feel is racist.
But i also have to say that i think racism has been exploited way to far. Every time i turn around that is what i hear someone is being sued for. Why is it nobody can have an opinion anymore?
Who are we to say who is to like who? I can't stand disrespectful little punks and i could care less what color there skin is. Does this make me a racist against whites or blacks?
And why is it a white person has to apologize for calling someone the N word but yet, 90% of the rap songs contain them calling each other it?
If Black people have a problem with this word, then they should lead by example and not call each other it. People say white parents who hate black people bread this hate. Well, young children listen to these rap songs and listen to black people call other black people the N word, so that is ok?
I also have a problem with calling black people african american. Why can't they just be americans? We don't call an irish person who lives here an irish american.
The world is full of racism. But if we took a step back and didn't pay so much attention to running everyones lives, then maybe things would be different.

It seems to me in these forums, some racist comments are said concerning Mexicans. This was the reason I called these people who made these comments racist. They are. I treat all colors as American as well, in my country, but many do not. They say mean, spiteful, or just ignorant things, without respect. I feel alot of people here do that as well, including myself. If you want these forums to be clean of swearing, they should also be clean of racist, or racially insensitive remarks, as well as remarks against jews or gays. To me, these comments are worse than an occasional cuss word. People won't stop coming to the forums if they see the word "Donkey" hole, but they will stop coming if they see people bashing Mexicans, or calling each other derogatory names for gay people. I'm not going to ignore people's racist comments because it ruins these forums for everyone, especially our guests from Mexico. I think sometimes it takes a topic like this to get people to be aware that they are doing such things, and to see what people truly find acceptable.

Honestly it's who the criticism comes from. People on here don't take you serious cause your never serious. So when you make comments about what they are doing, they automatically get annoyed with whatever your saying.
You may not like that answer, but it's the truth. Does it make it right? nope! but it works both ways. Look how annoyed you get at someone who you feel is making a comment bashing our mexican friends...
Racist remarks are not allowed in these forums. If you feel someone is making one, then you need to report it and a mod will look into it.
Making post or polls like this is a good way to remind people to watch what they are saying..
But also, let's remember that not everything that is said is someone being racists. Some things are just a joke and not meant to be taken that way. Now if someone point blanks calls them the N word or spic things like that, then it's clear they are just saying things to be mean and simply punish them for what they have no control over.. Which is the race they were born in.

With a name like Dogma, I doubt you're racist. I'm not the only one who sees the forums going this way a little, just most don't say it on the forums but rather over msn. Forgive me for drawing attention to this. I thought it would be received better, but perhaps my opinions are best left to myself if it makes everyone this angry. If you want an example of how others can be racist:
In South-Africa, whites have lost control in 1991. Since then, their racism has ended, but the black people have started. Farmers get attacked just for being white. It doesn't matter if they pay their employees well, if they are racists themselves, rich or poor.
Their farms are burned down, they are physically attacked (mutilated sometimes) until they flee the country or the region.
Is that normal? I didn't think so. That is racism in it's most pure form.

Yes, racism exists, but most of us don't go out of our way to find it. Many of the things YOU do are easily interpreted as racist. There are those individuals who play this game that are separationist, or even racists. And in their minds I am sure they have just cause for their opinions.
Accusing everyone of racism on every turn, ISN'T going to reduce it.
That is a crutch.
Everyone faces prejudice of one kind or another, almost daily. Most deal with it, or don't get bothered by it.
Personally, I find the the "N-Bomb" offensive in it's use, because I feel it belittles the speaker, be they black, white, or purple. I resent it's use in "black culture" as much as I dislike it's use as a slur. I don't accept the cope out that it means "an ignorant person", or any other vanilla definition, or that when used by black people it is a term of brotherhood and endearment. The word has too much history and connotation tied to it. And as an open-minded man who wishes he was truly "color-blind" it's a bit too insulting to my sensibilities because I know where it's come from.

I mention Separationists, because IF you are aware of movements in Racism, this is a very hot topic, and different then your classic lynch mob, variety. Often I believe it to be a front, and that there is still a message of one "race" being superior" to another, but that is my perception.
There are Separationist members of this Forum. That is why I mentioned that aspect.

I can make no claims that I do not realize the color of another man's skin. I have met no man that can. Does that mean that I treat a BLACK man any different then I treat a WHITE man? Two interesting tales along the lines of this thread:
While incarcerated two guys that I talked with should have been antagonistic towards each other, IF they were small-minded. One was a past "Blood" and the other a member of the Aryan Nation. But they respected each other and in some ways each other's "races". Both knew that the other was racist, but since they both had more separtaionist beliefs then ignorant aggressive attitudes, there really wasn't any issues.
I don't have strong Racist beliefs, but I can respect someone that does have them, IF they can carry their self with respect, and not belittle their self. I have very little time for the strongly opinionated that is merely led by ignorance.
The other night I was playing online poker. All walks of life play at these tables, but it typically is an English speaking environment, due to the game being hosted in America, and all the directions posted in English. Two Mexican players joined the table and began filling the chat with verbose Spanish. I do not speak fluent Spanish, but have some ability to pick out derogatory phrases and what not as well as catch a jest of discussions, especially if in print. No one said anything about the Spanish flooding the chat, or bothered the Mexican players. One player that was a typical "Redneck" complete with picture of himself siting on his pick-up truck bought the table a round of "virtual beer". One of the Mexican players took offense to having a "redneck" buy him a beer, and proceeded to start talking mad smack and racial slurs.
The Redneck ignored the ignorance and went on his merry way, being a generally cool guy to bump into at a poker table. The Racist minorities lashed out at anyone and everything they could.
So I took their money and told them I OWNED them.
Crass from me, I admit, but what can I say? I'm a redneck... and I rarely walk away from an insult.

The "I don't care if you're black" is not from any posts, it is a remnant of another discussion we had in class.
I'm just guessing, but I think IDK what seperationists are, I was confused and thought it was something else, my mistake.

While racism technicaly is the discrimination of non-humans, i na more common sense racism is term thrown aroudn way too wildy.
Racism is a normaly thing that is actualy encouraged by genetics. Pretty much anythign is racism, even if its jsut saying "latinos are hot".
Racism is jsut as bad or good as the discrimiation of peopel with diferent sexual orientation, religion, geographical location, social status, nationality, wealth political affiliation, jobs, education and what not.

Because, unfortunately, it does 'matter' to some people. You're trying to find some connotation in that statement that isn't there. People aren't being 'racist' by saying it nor are they are making racism a big deal. The fact of the matter iz that racism exists because people choose to hate otherz for being 'different' simply because the human race must differentiate between everything so that everything doesn't start to look like one grey blob. I mean seriously, how would things be if we called every colour the colour blue, every item on your computer desk blue, every dish in the kitchen cupboards blue, etc?? The truth is, like KLL pointed out, is that as humans we need to identify one thing from another so so we differentiate with adjectives and nouns. Racism, is using those in a negative connotation.

I don't know what BSG is, but I do get what you're saying with the whole slaves thing. But you forget, it's not just the white man came from his pretty castles on islands in the north to the south and enslaved all the 'savage' black man in their mud huts. All across the history of the world one 'tribe' or 'distinction' of people has always enslaved the weaker tribe no matter what colour it is or the many hndredz of ways the other is different from than them. It's simply because that other tribe is simply not part of their social clique that they must try to dominate it or assimilate it depending on the attitudes of the tribe. there are so many things that are wrong with so many of your posts. quite frankly I'm sitting here reading all this and just growing angrier and angrier. whether its your ignorance that is making you all post like this or your dislike for the thread starter i cant really tell. But I'm gonna try to put my thoughts into words without talking down to you all.
Racism is an evil thing, and it seems most of you understand that. However, i feel as if some of you don't understand what racism is. To explore this I'm going to forget about racism specifically and go into discrimination as a whole. Racism, sexism, homophobia, all around xenophobia.
Discrimination is not treating others differently. It is a fact of life that we are all different. Some are smarter than others, some are stronger than others, and each should be treated accordingly. Mostly dislike for the thread starter. Really, my intention here was not to offend anyone but rather to call attention to the fact that drug talk, and swearing aren't necessarily the things that people need to throw a fit about. Well, first of all, I take a little offense to the seeming ly generalization that because the majority here is white we are in some way or other not respecting ppl of diverse ethnic cultures. I have ranted ond raved on this subject because it struck a nerve, but, now I will try and express myself logically and to thebest of my ability show what I mean when I took offense to the direction this thread took.
Yes I am a white man in the south and I was raised during the time of the civil rights movement. I remember the March across the Edmond Pettus Bridge, I remember when MLK was shot, I remember the church bombings in Birmingham and such. It was a very dark part of our history and one that I for one, am not proud of, but it happened and there is nothing we can do to change the past. The only thing we can change is the future.
Do ppl see the difference in ppl by looking at them, sure they do. Is it right, no it isn't. I was raised in a conservative southern family, however, I was taught for as long as I remember that people are people no matter if they are white, black, yellow orange or green. I have lived that way all my life. I taught my children the same things. I know I have been accused in these forums of making fun of Raul because he is Mexican, well, I will be the first to challenge anyone to find where I made racist statements against Raul of any other group of ppl, because of his heritage. I consider Raul an good friend of mine and I am comfortable enough to joke with him, not because he is of a different ethnic background than me but because he is my friend and I know that he would not take it as anything other than that.
I too live in the "hood". I bought my house in a neighborhood that is predominantly black, and I have some of the greatest neighbors I have ever had. Do I have token black friends? No I do not I have friends of all ethnicities and I do not try and distinguish between them. And if I have friends of any group that do try and make something about my other friends, then that friendship ends.
We just need to get away from being a people that defines a certain group of ppl by their race, creed national origin, or religion. Are we there yet, no we are not, but we are making strides in that goal. I just don't agree with overcompensation of any people over another because of past history. We the people, have been endowed by our creator with these unalienable rights, Life Liberty and the Pursuit if Happiness. WE THE PEOPLE, not we the white people or we the black people, it is we the people and the sooner we all see that the sooner these typoes of arguements can be a thing of the past.

If you suspected they would do it because they are black, true, you're a racist. I think there's a fine line between being cautious and racist. Alot of it has to do with tatoos. I'd be more scared of a guy with tatoos than a black guy, which doesn't mean a black guy with tatoos isn't quite scary. One also has to go with their gut feeling, even if it is racist. Like, maybe Compton isn't a good place to go walking at night wearing all your gold jewelry. Maybe it is, I've never been there, not because there are black people there, I've just never had the urge to go to Compton. If there are two mean looking black guys walking towards you in a dark alley, you'd probably be more cautious, even if you were black, seriously. Does that make the skinny black kid a racist too? Racism is simply an evolved form of tribalism. There is nothing inherently evil with it. It is a natural feeling and a holdover from an earlier time when you stuck with your own family/tribe.
As to your example, if you walk by two black people in the street, and you get nervous (perfectly natural reaction to a potential threat) and they vindicate your behaviour by robbing you, it's your fault? Doesn't make much sense to me.

What I always found hilarious, is the fact that the N-word is not accepted in America, you have to use African-American or something like that.
The same with Spanish-American, Asian-American etc.

What's wrong with saying the N-word? We even use it in some sort of cookie... the word, that is :D
Dutch people used another word for the cookie (a bit more acceptable than ours (grins)), still with the N-word. Someone sued the company/users, so the word is forbidden...
