I used to be a combination of number 1 and 5 until i talked to some people who are much better than me at this game and they showed me the light. now i understand their frustration with some of the players in this game. heck 1-2 days ago the frustration wanted me to AA the person who ruined a grab by 6minutes...i can understand hitting for 1k land instead of 1.8k because youre afraid someone else will hit within the 2-3 hour gap...but honestly..sometimes its ridiculous :(...i admit i still make this mistake myself sometimes but i atleast try nowadays. I now try and play a combination of 2 and 3. Exceptions are when the target has no GB protection whats so ever (some players played with e.g. 5mill inf 20mill jets and 1mill ships this set...you know who you are...thanks :D)

ill check players and see how many hits they have if they have 4 or less i usually grab em. sometimes 5 ill grab depending on land they have.

what i found is a good idea is to find like 10-12 good grabs and write down when their gb runs out by several hits. then just log on at those times and see if anyone else has hit. by this time, some will have had their gb ruined, but some wouldnt have. at the same time, new targets might have appeared :)

sometimes when several top players race for someones GB to expire, hilarity results. check out the times here :)

Ive started to become more of a #3, but before that I would always play my turns at the same time of the day and just grab whoever gave good land around then.

It depends on how active I am :)

Last set I was always checking EV for grabs as i was stocking. This set I was logging on every 2nd day at the same time and grabbing whoever gave me more than 150 land until i got killed :)

I have to admit I expand and build all the time.

The first week, or while stockign i expand and build.
But otherwise i jsut check GE and if someone is relatively low on GB i grab. Checking when GB runs out and waiting is jsut way too much effort.

Marcus got me beat into second place there. I love the thrill of the race.

An important thing to note here is that by waiting everyone got as much land, or better land than they would have by not waiting, with the possible exception of HaCh.

What makes a massive difference is how long you can be online. I work at a computer so can sweep the scoreboards in the morning and make a note of who's GB is dropping & when. Then just check back at the appropriate time and if nobody has ruined it, I take a minute out of my work to take the grab. Near the end of my working day I see some that I know will expire 10-60 minutes after I've left work and it pains me to hit them, but if I have turns to burn and they are good grabs now then I do. Sometimes if I'm feeling generous I leave them for others to grab and save the turns.

If you only have half an hour online each day you gotta use all your turns then so take what you can get.
