I got some fam from Ireland. I believe my father's grandparents made the trip. Also I can trace back to Germany and Scotland. My mother's parents are from Puerto Rico, which means I also have a chance of having some Spanish in me, altho her parents came from an area with more of an indiginous population.

where you found an Indian in Germany or Netherlands?

KLL
08-27-2008, 14:51
they probably all found eachtoher i nthe US

its itneresting how noone claims american heritage.. even after like 3 centuries of existance...
germany only exists for only 2 centuries yet apparantly every second guy here has german heritage.

KLL
08-27-2008, 15:04
Well, this thread asked for our heritage, not where we were born... And technically i did claim american heritage when i said was was 1/16th american Indian so :P
well the more intersting questions is in that case, when did your ancestors first arrive i nthe US.
because people with ancestors who moved to the US before around 1880 ca't claim german heritage

heritage is an american thign anyway.
the only peopel i know here who know about their heritage from more tha n2 generations ago, are peopel with royal heritage or industrual family clans.

America is a country of immigrants. The "melting pot" even though its more of a salad bowl, because even though everyone comes here looking to assimilate, we all still retain our own culture to some extent.

I'm sure people in other countries other than america who's families don't originate from that country have pride in their own heritage. I doubt its uniquely american.

But at the end of the day, when asked what country we're from, the answer is America. However, the only people who could claim America as a "native background" would be those people we know today as Native American Indians and Mexicans.

its definately not a europena thing. i know plenty of people with french, polish or whatever heritage. noone embraces it, or cares. its not like anyone ever talks about heritage here. We kinda stoped doing that after the de-nazification.

Bloodline: Primarily Germanic, English, a tiny bit Seneca.

Family name seems to find it's way back to Denmark, it's definitely Nordic in origin and most likely from the Anglo-Saxon invasion of England. Because There was already a land holder in prominence, that had my surname. when the Domesday book survey happened.

Old English version of my Surname: Raedwulfson (son of the little council wolf)
