TORONTO - Prime Minister Stephen Harper promised for the first time Wednesday that Canada's troops in Afghanistan will be withdrawn in 2011.

Harper, who has been a steadfast ally of President Bush in the post-Sept. 11 fight against the Taliban and al-Qaida in Afghanistan, said Canadians do not have the appetite to keep their soldiers in Afghanistan beyond 10 years.

"You have to put an end date on these things," Harper said during a rare breakfast meeting with journalists while making a campaign stop in Toronto. "We intend to end it."

No, the NDP will never get more votes. Especially here in the west, people would rather vote Green than NDP.

I'm surprised the NDP hasn't had more success in Quebec. The Bloc is a socialist party, and they are losing votes to the Conservatives...

lol the NDP is third in popular votes and when harper said he doesn't want may in the debate you know how many people felt ill when that came out, alot of poeple are think that the voters would shoe some simpity towards may and and you knwo will tose voters be? from the liberals side mainly so it will cuy some votesf rom liberal towards green, since the cons. party is the only right handed party they dont have much to loose.
made look liberals even more bad and yes harper is going inot quebec. he has the majortiy in his hand i think thats why i dont like him, reminds me of a bully but in power

The Bloc is just like the NDP. The only difference is that they want to separate from Canada. This is the reason why the NDP will never form the government. If they could swing the Bloc's 10% vote, they could easily have 28-30%.

Because Canada has 4 left-wing parties, and only 1 right-wing. That makes it pretty hard for the left to form government. They should do what the right did a few years back, merge.

Then we'll have something like NDP/Bloc, Liberal/Green, and PC/CA. Socialist, Liberal, and Conservative.
