Why not? Although I don't think he necessarily means to wipe out the industry since him and McCain both want a push for clean coal technology but even that is extremely expensive.
Obviously if he does want to just destroy the industry which I doubt, there needs to be something that offsets the job loss and the costs to electricity. Fortunately he's already mentioned he has mentioned that the electric grid needs upgrading and infrastructure needs improving.
Listen I'm just curious do you try to research McCain and Obama or do you just listen/read the news.

I read many sources, i watch different stations. I have read about McCain and Obama. Though what Obama is proposing, if you listened to the clip, is wrong thinking. What he is proposing would just destroy coal company's. That is not good for the whole population, not only the employees. Thousands would lose jobs, boosting unemployment which in turn effects the economy negatively. His idea is just too extreme and poorly thought out. You need a smooth transition not a hard abrupt one.

Obama wants a Civilian National Security Force that is just as powerful and funded as the US Military. Now that is a scary notion to anyone :scared:

The problem I see with the coal thing is that many are pushing for clean coal technology which means the opposite of letting it die out and allowing for a slow transition. Instead its going to be worse for America to get off coal since the industry will only get more powerful and influential down the line.
For the civilian army thing, I'd say he's talking about the national guard or the civilian militias in the south but who knows since the guy has apparently only said it once. and did I almost forget to mention its a 30 second clip? sound bites are cute
But in the context of the clip, I would be 100% against it. To begin with where do we get another $500-600 billion? Who gets to oversee this branch? Corporations?
A better idea would be to slash military spending by half at least but increase funding to special forces and research and development. Also improve the intelligence agencies with increased funding too. What do you think?

Glad to see you contributing a rational opinion to the thread. If you are going to blab like a buffoon like that, just don't post in the first place and save yourself the embarrassment. ;)
As for the issue at hand, I do agree with Obama about switching from coal to other energy sources, but like Blackwater said it doesn't seem his transition to this change is smooth. If he tries to just bankrupt the industry all at once, it will be a disaster. So I like where he is trying to go on this issue, I just don't like how he's getting there, lol.

If I were a senator, you absolutly could ask me, why my relatives were found to be illegal immigrants, why they were given special treatment after being told to leave the US.. and Also why are they are living in goverment housing?even though they are illegal.. kinda hard to make rights out of those wrongs..

Why we would need another thread: because it is a new topic we are talking about Obamas Aunt, and a different issue.
If we try to adress 10 different issues in 1 thread, even if its the same general topic, things get messy.
its hard to follow when one person is talking about socialism, then the next post is about Obamas Aunt, the next about Mccains Age, the next about Energy, ect ect, then 10 posts down the road we get to Obamas Aunt again.

If Obama was aware of this, then indeed he should have done somthing, yhowever he himself is not a police officer or an imigration official.
I dont think he knew of this tho.
if you had say 100 relatives, would you be responsible to know where they all were, and all their legal issues ect.
