I am judging this on, influence, live performances, and number of hits and how long they were active.

Two bands that always stand out in these discussions are...Led Zeppelin and the Beatles. I find that their music influenced so many more bands then any other artist has. They both played great live, been around for over 10 years, and had numerous hits and singles.

what do you guys think?

you know what I think. both bands are good and have influenced others over time. how many bands started in the late 60's early 70's and still producing new stuff nearly every year and still sells out concerts?

Vanilla Ice, Snow, and LFO are hands down my favorites. They should build shrines to those guys.

Metallica for world wide. Gotta love the music and the atmosphere these guys make when they perform!

3 Doors Down for personal. They know what music is about.

IMO, Beatles are nothing all so great. OK, they made people crazy BACK THEN, cuz it was just the age for it, colorful costumes, wierd hairstyles and drug addict music. Well, Lemon Tree...lol

3DD has to be the most underrated band of all time. There music is great, lyrics are great, and have a great sound. They just don't get the popularity they should while bands like Panic! and fall out boy are all over the place -_-

queen might be the greatest live band of all time. As for greatest band, all around. They are in my top 10 maybe even my top 5.

Due to Maynards amazing Vocals, Tool is the best band from 90's+

all time... umm...

Led Zep perhaps... Metalica....

I do not particularily Like either of these bands, but they would probably be considered the "greatest"

It depends on your genre, and age.

personally I think that the variety of sound that came about only after the 90's produces some great artists.

Nsync had some decent songs...

soooo many bands to go with here. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, RHCP, Guns n Roses and many more! though one that a lot know but don't know their names is THE KINKS!! Such an influential band it's unfortunate more dont no them

the kinks ARE a great band. They don't get the recognition they deserve.

RHCP and GnR i find to be wayyyy overrated though. Both are good bands don't get me wrong, but they are not that great to be mention with the likes of zeppelin and floyd.

Maynard uses his voice as an instrument.

He creates melodies, and Rhythm with his voice alone, also he harmonizes his voice with the instruments at play, and uses it in certain ways that create Fortes, and subtle nuances in the music that are unseen in any other vocalist.

Have you heard Him sing in A Perfect Circle, T00L, or Puscifer? (all his bands)

If you know his work... I do not understand how U can deny he is the best, for talent.

Now, maybe some of these others are pioneers, maybe they have better music, but Maynard's voice as a stand alone is top notch.

Lots of bands have made fantastic songs, and have had great influence to the music industry and shaped it for decades going forward, but in the end it comes down to the band who keeps you going over and over, who's music who will never bore you.

RATM at maximum volume. The day anything beats that, I will be amazed.
