And for the record, i'm happy that Obama won the election. I may not be democrat but i will still support this president as i do any. I'm sure some of his decisions will be just as bad as a republican president has made. But he does deserve the chance to make his ideas happen. He is a well spoken, intelligent person and i wish him luck in a job that is ever so demanding.

Well honestly i wasn't and still not all that impressed with McCain. There is something about him i just don't like.. And i have always been someone who would rather vote in someone i like and thinks will do a better job then just voting my party.. It doesn't make any sense to elect people in office who can't do the job.. Which is why we have all the @ssholes in office today cause people just keep voting them in due to party.

Minimus the whole reason threads on racism are closed is cause people take it way to far. nobody like's to be called a racist that is why people get so angry over threads like that. People say Liverpool is rough, try Portsmouth, all the area round Fratton Park is much worse than Liverpool.

If I call Anton gay, all hell breaks loose, and he defends himself and how much he likes women. Probably about the same thing when I call someone racist. Most don't have a problem with it, and know I'm messing with them.

lol honestly i think i'm the only person on here who can tell when your just messing with someone or not. Which is why you and i never have any problems..

I can see where you are coming from, I personally cannot abide racism or things of that sorts, but I will happily make jokes about it, and have enough made to me about my scouse roots. Race wouldn't nearly be as big an issue if the race card wasn't played so much, also companies saying that they encourage diversity by employing people of all races doesn't help matters, implying people are different by their race is inherently racist.
It's like a new quota being brought in for fire trucks, the government wants there to be at least one woman on each truck, which isn't feasible, not enough women apply for the job, and of those that do a lot don't meet the physical requirements. So now if a woman just passes the physical requirements, and a man surpasses them with ease, chances are the woman will get the job, which is putting people's lives in more danger than they needed to be.

Well, I can take a joke as well as thenext person, I can also dish it out, but there ore some things that I don't consider funny, race being one of htem. I had some experiences in my youth that really effected me as far as race is concerned. I lost some ppl that I really cared for in the late 60's due to the race issue. I and my family have been ridiculed and even as far as shunned by ppl we thought we cared for and cared for us because of our ability to see past a person's skin color. So, I lived that perriod of time when it was very ugly and I may be a little sensitive to it now, but hey if that is the only thing I have about it now, I am not doing too badly.

I feel the same about gays. Tucson has a major gay population and over my 15 years of living here, I have met many of them I consider friends. I have been to several funerals for people who have died from HIV, one a long time partner of my old boss. I have in-laws who voted for Bush and McCain simply because they didn't agree with gay marriage, and have attended church services with them where the preacher gives a sermon about how Christians can change homosexuals, and that is is just a choice because they were sexually abused or something. All of this makes me very angry because I have known some very normal gays in my lifetime, and don't think anyone has the right to put them down, or tell them (or others) how to change them. However, I still joke with them about being gay, and joke with others about being gay, and furthermore will continue to demand that Hoebawt and Anton come out of the closet. Enough said I suppose.

When I was reading the thread, I certainly took everything being said as a joke. Mostly because I've seen a collective amount of Minimus posts and you can get a persons personality through reading so many of them. Tone is often difficult to display in text and people who are sensitive to issues are going to act....well sensitive. So we shouldn't talk or joke about things that are sensitive to everyone out there? Would there by anything left to talk about? The whole political correct movement takes the fun out of everything. I'm a firm believer in getting some thick skin and rolling with the punches, especially when it is blatantly a joke.

I really don't have a problem discussin issues and can even joke about most to a certain extent. Minimus, I apologize for jumping so quickly. I alos apologize for the one word post that I immediately edited as it was improper, but not before you saw it. When I started in this thread all I was doing was trying to keep it in a joking manner or at least a discussion on the facts or opinions, then the name calling started. I can take being called many things, sticks and stones and all that, but I just don't go with that one.

Up here in Annapolis, MD it seems to me that its pretty equal across the board even though its evident that rascism (although not out loud) is here.
Everyone had the opportunity to go with the flow and blend in to our local society. The option is theres. Whether its wearing the right clothes, speaking properly, or displaying a set of marketable skills.
Those who choose not to no matter what the color are the ones who dont land the jobs and move up the ladder.
I have more trouble with young white people conforming than i do with young african americans in a sales orientated job enviroment.
