If it were possible for a human to overcome the insatiable desire for power I believe that a capitalistic economy is the way to go as I believe people should earn what they get and get what they earn. It is just that most people cannot be satisfied with enough and have the inate need to have more. It is a human flaw.

communism if you take out the human variable

I lean somewhere in the middle of the two, socialism, though on a scale of 1 - 10 where 1 = Pure capitalist and 10 = Pure communist, I'd probably be about 6-7. Human nature makes pure communism impossible and pure Capitalism would be a hellish system to live under if you weren't already rich. If most americans realised just how dead the idea of the american dream is, they'd become socialists in a heartbeat.

Have to agree with Will here. Pure of either system will be a failure. Pure communism can't happen, at least not in this world. Pure capitalism can happen, but it would be a small number with all the money, and everyone else working for those people for little to nothing. Just how capitalism is designed to work.

A medium between the two is best, and that's where are the argument is. And I say it depends on the current nation and global economic situation. To drive the nation up and build wealth, move in the 2-4 range. Then as the country becomes stronger, switch towards 5-8 to balance out where the wealth in the country is.

without the possibility of bettering yourself, even if it is a long shot, is what keeps people trying to succeed. in a society that does not reward the bold, risk takers, progress comes slow.
