29 years ago Stan Smyl, 'King' Richard Brodeur and one of the worst teams in the NHL went to the Stanley Cup finals for the very first time and proceeded to get swept by the Mike Bossy New York Islanders in the midst of their dynasty run.

17 years ago Trevor Linden carried the Canucks on his back (and cracked ribs), and along with Pavel Bure, 'Captain' Kirk Mclean, almost pulled off an incredible Cinderella story against the Mark Messier led New York Rangers (Edmonton Oilers v2).

This year Henrik Sedin, Daniel Sedin, Ryan Kesler, and Roberto Luongo attempt to finally win the Stanley Cup for Vancouver's 40 year anniversary after winning the Presidents Trophy, dispatching the Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators, and the San Jose Sharks.

Who will we meet? Boston Bruins vs Tampa Bay Lightning game 7 goes Friday.

So we'll be playing Boston for the Cup. A few personal connections:

Dan Hamhuis (Canucks) and Zdeno Chara (Bruins) used to play for my hometown junior team :)

actually this kind of sux, i have 2 online friends i talk hockey with regularly. 1 happens to be a boston fan, and xavy here happens to be a canucks fan.

Well, I'm sad we lost. We were absolutely embarrassed at home 4-0. And I'm sad people got hurt when the riot broke out downtown. But I suppose it was bound to happen regardless of who won considering you have over 100k people packed in a small area and theres the minority bruin fans within...
