After many years of using Fire Fox I decided to put Chrome on my laptop. It has a clean install of 64 bit Windows 7 so it's not been cluttered up yet. However I only have a 2 Ghz single core Celeron processor with 4 GB ram.

I've noticed Chrome runs very fast most of the time but there are times that it seems to be bogged down. It also seems to be a resource hog.

Is the problem my processor or is it the browser?

Anyone have any opinions about the browser?

Lately Firefox has been eating up a lot of resources, RAM usage going into 500mbs and experiencing 'freezing' when loading new pages. doesn`t happen on the Chrome, so nothing bad to say about chrome. Up to Firefox 4.0, Chrome was just about the same, but when FF started updating it got ****tier and now Chrome wins out :p

My Chrome is behaving like Fire Fox does by using lots of RAM. FF got too cluttered and will wind up like Netscape.

That's a good point. Is there a browser that handles that stuff better or will it not make a difference?

N-W flies on Chrome and Fire Fox but like you said it's the Java.
