CRY ME A RIVER! Papa Johns is turning 1.3+ Billion in revenue in 2012 and on the rise. Is he really crying about 5-8 million (chump change to franchise) I guess he is hoping to make up the difference with all this FREE publicity!


Look at the record sales Chic Fil La pulled amid their controversial remarks about gay marriage.

DID YOU KNOW that companies dont have to contribute to the costs of the health care coverage. They can "provide" you with the option to buy coverage, but that doesnt mean its FREE.


DID YOU ALSO KNOW that every employee that pays for health care pretax that the company does not have to match FICA (7.5%) on that money It could turn out to be a money saver for companies.

Note he is referring to the Franchise Owners and not the parent company. Many of the owners may indeed do this and that's what he is pointing out. Additionally, several other companies such as Applebee's are stopping expansion and hiring new employees. Companies exist to make money not to pay for health care. Obama care will give many employers an excuse to drop coverage and full time employees. Thus forcing people to find their own coverage, go on government insurance or pay a fine (Tax per the supreme court). It's a smart move as poor people tend to rely on government handouts and will need to vote Democrat to keep their food stamps, free phone and welfare benefits.

Considering health care coverage (Tri-Care Prime) was just cut for military retirees I really don't care how much negative press this administration gets.

The only one crying a river here is people that think no one is allowed to question Obama Care.

haven't read the thread but people should note:

revenue =/= profit

companies get a lot of deductibles which legally lower their tax bill....it is a companies legal obligation towards its shareholders to pay the legal amount it owes.

dunno if this relates to this story but in UK people always forget this

Basically, under Obama Care, a company that fails to comply is Fined (Taxed?). However for some companies paying fine (tax?) is cheaper than providing health care coverage. There is also an individual mandate that requires everyone to carry health insurance. So if an employer cuts the workers hours to less than 30 a week the worker is considered part-time and the employer isn't required to provided any sort of meaningful benefits. This means that employee has to either pay out of pocket, qualify for government health care or pay a fine (tax?).

just an FYI (again) companies can provide healthcare options, but DO NOT have to contribute to the costs.

if you have a good package with your company you dont pay at all
if you have a decent package with your company they pay some / you pay some
if you dont have a decent package, but still have health care through a company provided policy YOU PAY ALL

in all cases of they employee paying it is pre tax so the compnay does pay on payroll FICA match.

if they are franchises then they are doing business under a different name rather than papa johns, and MOST will have under 50 employees unless they each owner has several locations.

Keep believing that if you have a good plan that nothing changes, Your president said it so it MUST be true.

Sorry, but I don't believe that anyone is entitled to anything more than what they work for.

No, you have it right LP, the Supreme court has already ruled that the govt can do that under the provision that they can levy a tax. In John Robert's conclusion of the personal mandate, he ruled it was a tax and called it so in his briefing.

the insurance is NOT FREE, meaning companies dont HAVE TO contribute to the costs of the insurance.

Thanks! It's so confusing because the president told us it wasn't a tax. I wasn't exactly sure which branch of our government to listen to on this.

the solution is very simple and applied all over the rest of the western world....

tax the employer a % of the total amount of wages he pays
tax the employee a % of the total amount he earns

this goes for social security, healthcare, taxes etc.

simple to implement, simple to enforce no incentive to cut wages / lower hours / fire after x years etc
