Well, you have 1 month of experience. We have 10 years. Join [eleet] next set, we'll get you to a good finish, but more importantly we can teach you the game physics thouroghly.

Why do you think the game isn't fair?

MarineRecon
10-15-2014, 16:05
yeah explain what isn't fair please? there is a bunch of stuff to learn about the game to use strategy wise which you may not understand or notice yet so please talk to somebody or join a veteran nation to learn the game better first before you leave

Mr President

What blaa says is very true. It is very hard to understand everything about the game in a short amount of time. I always stress that after someone has played the game for a month or so, to join an existing vet nation so they can show you a whole other side of the game.

We always want to hear feedback from the members, even if it's bad feedback. Our game is still evolving and feedback helps us make it better. Before you quit, please try playing in an established nation and then make your decision. But also, please let us know what you feel is unfair.

It's 1 thing but I guess other don't mind it. If some player is like 10 times my size he/she can still attack me wich is pretty annoying imo..
And indeed I still don't fully understand the game, I'll have a look what I'll do

positive side of a bigger state hitting you is they most likely have a lot more land which prevents them from taking a lot of land from you while giving you landgrab protection from other states in the process...it is either beneficial or not depending on how you look at it and utilize it ;)

It is a common misinterpretation that being attacked (grabbed) is a bad thing. Even experienced players sometimes don't understand the grabbing system entirely.

Grabbing bases on a formula which takes following things into account: Your land, enemy land, number of attacks done on you on the last 36h. The more land the enemy has, the less land he gets. The more grabs are done to you, the less land the enemy gets.
Being grabbed is a good thing, unless you don't want to be grabbed. The only reason you don't want to be grabbed is when you are holding the top spot. On other cases you should want to be grabbed! Especially by states bigger than you.

Here are the reasons why:
Our grabbing system creates a symbiosis between the attacker and the attacked state. Both gain something from it. One directly (attacker receives land), other indirectly (attacked state loses less land on the next grab). It is unavoidable not to be grabbed for most states. Sooner or later you will be grabbed. If you get attacked a lot then it is quite likely you will lose little land.

Of course, as with many things, there are many 'but's to this.
*Grabs expire in 36h! Look at your global events. If you see your last grabs are about to expire, then there are multiple variants on how to lose less land eventually. Either just wait and collect turns and do your turns after you have been grabbed. Or, a clever way is to provoce other states to attack you. This is made by expanding your land. States will see that you have a lot of land and see they could get decent land from you, so they don't care to wait a couple more hours and grab you anyway. Be careful though, sometimes it happens that noone grabs you anyway, so you'll lose more land.
*Position yourself. It's not a good idea to be a state with a lot of land surrounded by states with low land. The grabbing formula takes account your land, enemy land, and grabs performed to you. But if your land is so much higher than enemy land, then with each grab you'll lose a lot of land. Another tricky tip, because the idea with staying low is to limit your expenses, now I tell you to increase your expenses... Don't worry, you'll figure out the balance sooner or later.
*Thirdly, and finally, if you show dedication and you're clever enough you can ALWAYS grab more than what other people take from you. ALWAYS.

It's not the land grabbing that I find annoying. There's just no way I can defend myself against some 100+mil player, not at my NW. And it's just annoying to see you've lost more than 1 mil of units in 1 attack and when you use a turn more than 1mil of your pop goes away.. I guess it's a part of the game but I don't like it. Aspecially when you get attacked 3 times by 100 mil+ guys, right blaa?

The losses, both army and population, are marginal. You can earn those back with just a few turns. Don't let that upset you.

There, I lost 7k with 2 grabs, gained back 6k with 60 turns, decided not to grab any more and cash instead:

He was having a fine first full set. over 30k land and a good NW.

Could have easily had a few top 10/top5 finishes once he learned the game better.

Too bad, but oh well

It's not oh well. Not everyone understands how this game is played right off the bat. There are times even after we have explained things that people still don't fully understand. It takes time. Using them as a target to show an example doesn't help. Some take being attacked more personal that others. Some of his points were valid. There is a wide gap on who can hit who. It worked when we had 1k plus members but maybe we should look at lowering it some.

In the future, please do not use there own state as an example. Use mine if need be.

1 of the new guys in my nation has the same arguement. Why play if you are going to get farmed by someone with 100m more net than you.

I understand their side, but we have to try to bring the nation/team aspect back into the game. That is where this game shines. not from individual netting.

Growing up, the best part of this game was the politics and the feel of a nation goal. However, the same politics is what killed the game.

We need to find a medium that will include the good politics that helped this game strive.
