A long awaited blog from yours truly has finally arrived, please take this opportunity to change your underwear the blog will wait for you. All done? Then let us begin.

I've been having a bit of a new music binge recently, normally I do spend a lot of my time listening to music and adding new songs to my iTunes here and there, but these past few weeks I've added a few hundred songs (some new releases and some older ones that are new to my library). I thought I'd share with you my favourites from them:

The first song is Tick Tock by Kesha (ft. P Diddy), now I'll be honest and say I don't know a lot about Kesha, other than she recently went for a wee in a sink, but I've really enjoyed this song. She was the female voice on Flo Rida's song Right Round, so if you enjoyed that you'll enjoy this.

The next is the new single by Faithless - You're The Sun To Me, I don't think it's their best song but I saw them live last Thursday so here's a shout out to them, even if they did only play a paltry 40 minutes.

This next one is from a German band called Beat! Beat! Beat!, and I know less about them then I did about Kesha but they're a nice little indie band and it's quite apt as bonfire night has just passed - Fireworks

And to gently round us off on a wave of tranquility is Bubbly by Colbie Caillat a song which didn't get the recognition it deserved in the UK market (only reached 58 in the charts) so if you're reading this Colbie, I apologise on behalf of the Brits.

Also I apologise for the use of Rapidshare, forgive me ::oops:

True, I'm a bit too late (RW was 2-3-4-5 July 2009), but it was awesome...
Bands I really enjoyed: the Killers, the Script, Lady Linn and her magnificent seven, Fleet Foxes, Placebo, Oasis, Amy MacDonnald, Kings of Leon, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, The Kaiser Chiefs
Bands I didn't enjoy: Limp Bizkit, Lilly Allen (was queuing to get in, so was forced to listen :( ), De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, Metallica (:o shame on me, truly hate them tho, didn't even wait for them, just left), the Prodigy, Milk Inc. ...
Bands I'd like to have seen but I was still sleeping when they were on: Jasper Erkens and Emiliana Torrini

And of course, the best concert ever, Coldplay. There are two good vids on youtube, both official footage as recorded by LiveNation. (Viva la Vida / the Scientist)
Notice the 80,000 people doing the backing vocals ^^

The Script was great, and it was either that or the Black Eyed Peas, so the choice was an easy one xD. Saw the BEP a couple of years ago (on Werchter, coincidence?) and they sucked, as usual. Rythm is a must if you want to sing. Whoops Fergie...

Nick Cave. Need I say more?
Fleet Foxes. I rest my case.
Amy MacDonnald was surprisingly blond, but still great.

Limp Bizkit: noise, noise, noise. Never heard them before (heard of them, yes, heard something they made, no), and I wish I won't hear them ever again. Next time, try Linkin Park, they're way better.

I don't like to scaremonger, but even the most resolute can't turn a blind eye to the dwindling player base of this game. But what is causing this?

Is it the lack of players making this game less competitive which in turn makes people not play making the problem worse?

Is it because the few vocal members in the forums spend all their time *****ing and blaming other people for making people quit, when perhaps they should be looking closer to home?

Is it because people come to this site and are daunted by the layout and the very indepth message sent to them when they start the game, (which imo should be severely cut down, into just telling them what they are able to do, and encourage them to ask other players how to make the most out of their state)?

Is it because the days of the text based game are numbered as people want to have graphics more than solid gameplay to draw them in?

Is it because we aren't bringing in any new blood to replace the people that leave or because we aren't keeping the new blood here?

Whatever the problem we need to stop it, by addressing all these problems if possible. I do believe new blood coul be the answer, new people who can be enthusiastic about the game rather than the vets who have grown bored of the same old people, a big recruiting push is needed, I'm not sure how the game is advertised, but clearly it needs to change. Imagine if every active player got ONE person to join we'd be upto 100 active players in a flash, the game would feel the new energy and perhaps spur on to get more people.

Whatever happens in the next few months is going to be very important.

I'm not sure what it is about the exam period that brings out the blogger in me, maybe it's the lack of sleep and prolonged company with myself.

Not really sure what to talk about, not much has been going on apart from exams, had one this morning which went rather well if I do say so myself. Have another on Friday which I should be revising for now, but instead I'm on here talking about nothing to nobody. I think this is my way of releasing all the stuff rolling round in my head that I need to dispose of so I can revise for Friday. Spent the last two days revising for a cumulative time of 20 hours which I used for 2 hours this morning and I have the same procedure to go through over the next two days seems a rather strange way of assessing my ability but hey whatever works for the university.

I bid you adieu

My oldest son, Alex, was taking his final exam in one of his required courses for his double major. His phone went off in his bag so he silenced it. He never pulled it from his bag, only hit the silence button. The professor confiscated his exam thereby preventing him from graduating 2 DAYS before he was to graduate with his double major. Now he must reapply to graduate with a single major, or retake the class for which he received an incomplete, but niether can be done till August. you guys, who are in College, thoughts?:cursing:

Those of you who read this, meaning all of you (duh), know that I haven't posted any blog in quite a while.
I could just post blogs with dates prior to this day, but I won't, b/c that means having to find a lot of good songs ...

I've decided to change this blog from weekly (which it wasn't) to "whenever I feel like it"

This edition is about Marianne Faithfull. Those of you who know her songs, know her voice, which is quite eerie...
My dad came home with one of her CDs, the last one: "Easy come, easy go". I ripped it (shame on me) just for this one magnificent song:
The song was called "The Crane wife 3"
It is a cover from the Decemberists, which I'll probably discuss in the next edition of this blog.

(Dutch radio show, talking about the Crane wife, the story behind the song and Marianne Faithfull) (The song starts at 2:43)

This is a website that has a hype machine that follows loads of music blogs to see what new and up and coming tracks are being talked about on the internet, each song is removed from the popular list after 3 days, so really you only have to log in every three days to get all the benefit.

Most of the songs are remixes, but not all, Greenday's new song has been leaked, as has Yeah Yeah Yeah's new album. Has some nice songs on there, it lets you listen on the site to the songs and links to the original blog almost all of which have a download link.

This the second week I've been listening to the BBC Radio One show Switch, it has quickly become my favourite radio show to listen to (though in fairness I didn't have a favourite before this).

It has presenters Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw who I really enjoy listening to, they have really similar tastes in music to me and just have a laugh. If anyone has some spare time on a Sunday evening 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm GMT give it a listen if you like popular music (general Radio 1 music).

Listening to it last week it introduced me to a solid 4/5 new bands/artists who I really like and can't stop listening to now so definately worth a go.

Every teenager who likes music, all men in a midlife crisis ... get to Werchter once a year for the music event of Belgium. This started as a small town concert in one small tent, but attracted over 280,000 visitors in 2003.
The red cross is always on site, and an average of 4,000 make use of their services each day.

Last year, a lot of great bands, and sucky things like Mika, came to Werchter to perform on the main stage. These include R.E.M., Air Traffic, The Chemical Brothers, Neil Young, Moby, Radiohead, The Editors, Kings of Leon, The Kaiser Chiefs ...

The man who invented Rock Werchter is called Herman Schueremans, a.k.a. "De Schuer", a local man. He sold the concept to Live Nation a couple of years ago...
Tickets are expensive (if you compare it to other festivals in Belgium): €75.- for one day and €160.- for four days. Those were the prices last year, this year might be different.

I know for sure that I'm going the full four days, perhaps even for free if I can get a job on site :)
Werchter is a part of "Groot Rotselaar", and that's where I live (in another part called Rotselaar), and my 18th birthday was this year, so I'll get a ticket for one day for free (ty, mayor). Those of you who live near enough to come, but not close enough to go home every day, there's enough camping site near the festival, but that's going to cost extra :)
