Now that we have the game going in the right direction, we really need to push advertising it.

I don't mind rewarding members who get new people to play, so why don't you list some ideas that you think would be a nice reward. And also, let's start listing some different ways to advertise so we can get the name out and get the game going!

the problem will be finding people who like TEXTbased mmorpgs...
No one I know does, except the guy who keeps staring at me in the mirror... if the mirror wouldn't be too small... (only 1m90 long ==> too short for me )

The thing with voting for the game in turn for turns would be nice
    and free

First step: Target Market - Computer gamers who have time on their hands and like war games. This typically includes a younger demographic, mainly males. Approximate age group 16-24.

Next step: How to target these consumers? TV commericials!

I will think more about it and try and come up with some better more serious ideas.

I had an idea for WoW that never got followed up on.

Create some sort of Nation Wars downloadable program and get it posted on www.download.com. That would generate traffic to the game.

Just need some kind of gimmick to get people to the site. Something like a NW Tank Attack game that people have to download and have it link to the site. As long as it's not spyware it would work.

You should also consider getting that game posted on sites like candystand.com, knongergate.com and rustyarcade.com and make liberal references to the NW site.

Also, I suggest a Firefox plug in of some sort.

This sort of stuff is free but would take time and effort to develop.

I disagree. That was tedious crap that didn't really generate traffic because no one went to those sites except people voting for their own game.
