what's this whole issue with LOR?

again and again LoR is in the limelight for the not too popular matters. I have been in and out of LoR since the old server with the other dude, swes something I can't remember.
Why in this new server, is LoR facing such scrutiny? is this the issue about spies planted here and there? I think there are spies in my nation planted by other nations as well. Isn't this always the case with the suspicion and stuff?
Please fill me in. It's a game, let's just enjoy it and have some fun!
