New Year Clean Out!

Prior to the start of next round i will be clearing all the states from the db. If you are a prem member, this means you will have to create a new state again when you log in.


Right now we have a lot of states that no longer play but keep getting loaded back in the system. This will take care of the problem.

The main reason for this is to give me a better idea on how many "active" members we have. During this first year of NW, a lot of garbage has collected. We need to clear it out.

ALSO,

During the afternoon tomorrow the game and forums will be offline. Our forums are in desperate needs of a total upgrade. Our current version is no longer supported and many bugs have been popping up. I have been pushing it off long enough.

I am hoping for a fully smooth upgrade where we don't lose anything. (bookie,casino, credits ect ect) but you never know. I will run full backups of everything incase something does happen i have logs to go back through and fix things.. But that can take awhile.

So if you try to log on and see the game and forums are down, please give it some time and they will be back up as soon as i can get them.

excellent! ive long been calling to clear out those inactive states! what do you mean by correct email address though? surely u need correct one to register (dont we have to click some link when we register to verify email?) or do you mean something else? sorry its late and im tired

When NW first started there was no activation link sent. So ppl could use fake ones. Plus there are times when they use a correct one to sign up, get the activation code and then once they are in, change there email address to a fake one.

This clear out will also mean that nations WILL NOT BE AUTO created next set. So you will need to make your nations again.

If anyone steals someone elses tag, i will manually change it back. So please don't even waste the time trying. This is a needed clearing out process that needs to take place. So please do not take advantage of it.

also, i have added a little extra touch to the end of round emails. They now include a lot more information instead of just rank.

Sadly not all of you will receive this due to our "limited" amount of emails that can be sent from the server, but most should get one. Our current package only allows a small number of emails to be sent. whenever we can be on a dedicated server, then we can send as many as we want.. But we are a ways off from being on a dedicated server..

I took out the email part cause i didn't say it right. Nobody needs to make a new forum account, which is where you need to add your email address too, all you will have to do is make a new state. Which doesn't require a email address.

What i was trying to say was, anyone who has put in a fake email address on there forums account will have there states disabled until they do. So you all need to get your email addresses up to date cause during 2009 if an email i send you bounces back cause it's a fake one, then your state will be disabled.

I am hoping the upgrade will only take a couple of hours.. So by Sunday night the game will be reset and able to accept members.

whos night ? GMT night or EST night ? mm okay thank you for clearing up the email bit. just i dont really know how this bouncing thing works but i signed up using my real email so i guess i dont need to do anything.

Upgrade of game and server went smoothly. Both are back up and running.

also, the new end of round emails had a little issue.. basically the only part of the emails that were correct were the ranks.. So please ignore the rest of it. This issue will be taken care of for the end of this current set..
