By that logic, the UK (spending 30bil on defense) should be a Russian/Chinese colony by now. Last time I checked Anton wasn't Prime Minister so I think we can rule that out.

All the US needs for it's defense is nukes and a decent air force. That doesn't cost 500 billion. Neither Russia or China has the ability or the will to invade the US.
